הָהוּא שֶׁפֻּטַּר מֵעֲבוֹדָתוֹ
לֹא יָדַע מַה לַעֲשׂוֹת עִם עַצְמוֹ
וְהֵיכָן לְהַנִּיחַ אֶת אֲבָרָיו
ןְנֶחְבָּא  כָּל אוֹתוֹ בֹּקֶר
בֵּין הַמְּחוֹגִים
עַד שֶׁיָּצָא לָרְחוֹבוֹת
בְּלִי שָׁעוֹן
הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ קָפַח עַל רֹאשׁוֹ
בִּנְשִׁיקַת שַׁלְהָבוֹת
הָלַךְ בַּאֲשֶׁר נְשָׂאוּהוּ רַגְלָיו
מְחַפֵּשׂ אֶת חַייָו
חוֹצֶה בַּמַּעֲבָרִים מוּל גְּדֵרוֹת
מִתְקַנֵּא בִּלְטָאוֹת הַחֲגָוִים
בְּצִפּוֹרֵי הַמִּדְשָׁאוֹת
בָּחָתוּלִים הַמִּתְבַּטְּלִים
מִשְׁתָּאֶה לִפְעִימוֹת לִבּוֹ.

He who was laid off [from his work]
Did not know what to do with himself
And where to lay down his body parts
He hid himself all through the morning
Between the fingers of the clock
Till he went out into the streets
Without a watch
The sun beat down upon his head
With fiery kisses
And he walked where his legs took him
Searching for his life
Crossing passages against hedges
Envying the lizards in the cracks
Among the stones
The birds on the public lawns
The idling cats
Wondering at the pulsations of his heart.
